Intercessory prayer is a privilege that we take seriously at Second. We seek to
participate in God’s divine purposes as He directs all things for His glory, and uses
the prayers of His people to accomplish those purposes! We believe that Jesus
taught many things on prayer, but we believe that His teaching in
Matthew 6:5-15, serves a fundamental role in developing an effective prayer life.
| |
- Effective prayer is personal in nature (5-6). It’s really all about God and
His glory not our self preservation or promotion!
- Effective prayer is purposeful in nature (7-8). God is not waiting for you
to “use a magic formula, or say the right thing one thousand times” before He
moves!
|
Therefore, as a model for all disciples, Jesus taught His followers (9-15) that prayer
is first and foremost:
| |
- A means of expressing praise to the Sovereign Father
- A means of expressing submission to His will and control
- A means of expressing dependence on the Lord’s faithful provisions
|
Here at Second, we believe that a key element in fulfilling and growing in this
privilege of prayer is through the intercessory prayer board located on this
page. Ray and Teresa Hardy (pictured with their three boys) are pleased to
receive your requests via email, phone, personal conversation, or through
the electronic submission process linked on this page.
We encourage you to browse through these requests; and, in every situation,
praise our Father for His sovereign control and concern, express
your sincere desire for His will to be done for His glory, and express your
dependence upon Him for His wisdom, direction, healing, or anything else that
He alone can provide in meeting the needs of these requests. |
